Problem:
Windows XP Service Pack 2 Validation Failure
Summary:
Instructions on how to download and install Windows XP Service Pack 2
Description:
Installation of Windows XP Service Pack 2 is required on all Windows XP ResNet computers in order to gain internet access.
You are currently being placed in a Temporary Role with limited network access to perform the necessary updates. Depending on which updates are missing, you may be required to perform several reboots.
Recommended steps before installing Service Pack 2:
- Check your computer for unwanted software.
You can detect and remove unwanted software from your computer using a variety of tools. UCSC recommends Microsoft AntiSpyware available here.
- Protect your important files.
We strongly suggest you back up or make a copy of your important and irreplaceable personal information, such as pictures, documents, music, and financial data.
